Micrometer Slide Comparator

For direct Measurements upto 50m in steps of 0.01 mm (0.001 mm) on a large micrometer head. The reading microscope, the slide with the micrometer screw & drum head, and the stage are carried on a sturdy base so that these are normally inclined at an angle of 45° . The stage 15 x 15 cm is fitted with spring clips.
The micrometer slide moves long a lifetime stainless steel scale and the Movements are read directly on a large drum head to 0.01 mm. ( or 0.001 mm through a vernier attached to it). The micrometer screw & nut are specially aged & normalised to ensure uniformly accurate performance with passage of time. Total range of movement 50 mms. Accuracy of calibrations 001 % The reading microscope is provided with rack & pinion focussing. Optics highly achromatic. An extra support leg is attached to the base to enable the whole instrument to be brought to a horizontal reading positions. Substage mirror in gimbals for reflecting light.
